Superb! Bravo! Excellent! This film is well gruesome. Once banned in 31 countries "Cannibal Ferox" has got to be one of the all time greats. Loads of jungle, cannibals, animal killings and gore, this film contains some of the best cannibal footage in any horror flick to be seen to date.
A team of young adventurists go into the South American jungle to find out what happened to one of there friends and end up trapped in a cannibal hell. The natives are not bothered by their being there until a guy (played by Giovanni Radice) does too much crack and thinks he owns the place. He kills a few of them and chops off one tribal guys dick.
The tribe are not very amused by this and decide to get their revenge on the travelers. The natives soon get their revenge and torture them beyond belief. This has earned 5 gold stars from the home of horror and is not to be missed.
Order it from amazon.com for the deluxe uncensored version, seeing as the British release, by VIPCO (which has 10 minutes... Yes, 10 minutes cut from it) is crap!

This flick is Great! In 1979 four young film makers disappear in the jungles of South America while shooting a film about cannibalism. Six months later a search team goes out to find them, however they find the footage (Blair Witch stylee) - and nothing could prepare them for it. Owing to the harrowing and graphic nature of the film, Cannibal holocaust has been banned in over 50 countries and has earned it`s place in cinematic history as a shocker and is one of my personal favourite films. It possesses good gore and an excellent storyline and in parts is quite distressing.
There has been alot of DVD releases but the new Grindhouse version available from amazon.com has got to be the best. Check out the banned list for more info.

A group of tourists take a trip to a mysterious Greek Island for a short break. When they arrive they find the island village deserted, except for a strange woman, who is lurking about in the shadows. On returning to their ship, they find that it has drifted away from the shore line, and they must spend the night on the island.



They shack up in the islands main building and one by one the group fall victim to the islands terror. The terror being that of the "Anthropophagous Beast". A deranged, cannibalistic lunatic sent mad when stranded sea by the death of his wife and son and the confusion of having to eat them to survive.



The suspense builds and the thunder flashes. As the storm closes in so does the Grim Reaper for his lunch. There are some really gross parts in this film and I can see why the prudish BBFC banned it. The version in the U.K. is cut even though on the BBFC website it says it isn't. It is missing 2 vital gore scenes, the eating of the foetus, the eating of the guts.
Overall, this is one of my favourite munchers and the home of horror gives it a well deserved 5 star rating. Yummy.

The Horrors of war take on a whole new meaning for Vietnam vet Norman Hopper, whose domestic life is shattered by the return of his combat buddy Charlie Bukowski. Charlie and Tom were captured by the vietenamesse army and thrown into an underground pit to rot.



The get rescued by Norman (played by John Saxon) and are taken back to the civilized world. Some how, whilst in the jungle, they managed to aquire a taste for human flesh and are inflickting their canabalistic problem on everybody they take a bite out of.



Now on the run from the law, after taking a bite from an unwilling victim, Charlie begs Norman, who now has the taste for human food, to help him and his old vet pal Tom get out of town. Soon the team of Cannibals are fighting for their lives and escape to the sewers of the city where the police give chase. One by one they are picked of and escape seems imposible.



Previously banned a slightly cut version has been released in the U.K. Cannibal Apocalypse is an interesting cannibal flick which moves away from the Jungle and into the city streets. The plot is not particulary good but there are some excellent gore scenes, especially the part where Giovanni Lombardo Raddice (The House by the Edge of the Park) gets his guts blown clean out. Robert Harper was an average entrepreneur with a comfortable life, until his plane crashed near an isolated development in New Guinea. When a true twist of fate separates him from his companion Rolf, Robert finds himself stranded alone in the jungle. He discovers a native civilization hidden there, but they are a cruel tribe of cannibals with only malicious intension's. Tortured and humiliated, Robert is taken to the edge of his sanity by a series of acts so horrible that they are practically beyond human comprehension. Finally he manages to make a break for it and escapes the Jungle.
This uncut "cannibal-classic" DVD has been digitally re-mastered and very well presented by Shriek Show and I was also pleased to know that, when I opened up the dvd case, Shriek Show had gone to the effort of inserting 10 very nicely printed collectable cinema lobby cards. Thank`s Shriek Show you've done a timeless classic justice.

Wes Craven first shot to prominence, not to mention notoriety, in 1972, when he and Sean Cunningham ( Friday the 13th and the House series director/Producer) shot the infamous "Last House on the Left". Surprisingly "The Hills Have Eyes", which is not as brutal or relentless as "Last House on the Left", went on to become an international hit and acheived cult status.



The story is about an American family called the Carters, who are travelling across the desert wastelands of America heading for California when they accidently journey on to a road which has government aircraft experiments going over it. The noise and the comotion of the experiments causes the dad to panic and he crashes the car stranding them in the middle of nowhere.



They are spotted by a cannibal family who live in the hills and wait for unexpecting passers by. This familly is run by a total nutter of a father who orders his sons to go out and hunt down the passers by for food. As the Dad of the Carters Family go for help he is attacked by the cannibals, forced to drink petrol, and burnt to death nailed to a tree.



The cannibals then proceed to kill the dog, kidnap the baby, rape the daughter, kill the other daughter and the mother of the Carters family. One of them even eats the budgie! The sons and daughter of the Carters want revenge and one by one the cannibal family are wiped out.




The film itself is not that bloody but what gore is in the film is rather good. It is a good story which keeps its pace and momentum and builds up to a good climax. Respectively it is shot and directed well and the new transfere to dvd which was done by Anchor Bay makes for a whole new experience.

Later on they stop off at an old house which belonged to a relative of one of the travellers and have a good look around. Two of the teens go off for a stroll in the surrounds and happen on an old farm, which seems empty, but when they enter the old farmhouse they are attacked by raving lunatic weilding a sledge hammer. What follows is one of the most deranged films ever to bless our screens. This film is truly a masterpiece of suspense and horror and although it's not that bloody, it's still very shocking and brutal. Has easily earned a place in history as an absolute cult classic and a must for anyone. Own a piece of horror history.
